Max Douglas

umbreonA founding member of VGC with Hats, Max started playing in 2013. A former TCG player, Max played in his first VGC tournament in Oregon Regionals after scrubbing up in TCG the day prior. In 2014 Max decided to play VGC as his main game, inspired by his experience at Worlds 2013 as a spectator. 2015 was Max’s breakout season. Maxing out on Premiere Challenges and getting an impressive Regionals BFL of 2nd, 2nd, 7th Max was able to qualify for a day 1 invitation to Worlds. 2016 wasn’t a great year for Max but he still managed to return to Worlds.

Mark Hanson

Another founding member of VGC with Hats, Mark also began as a TCG player. Mark’s first VGC tournament was Seattle Regionals in 2011, although he didn’t play again until Canadian Nationals 2012. Mark hasn’t been able to fully dedicate himself to VGC because of his graduate studies but he still finds time to attend tournaments here and there. While Mark didn’t qualify for Worlds in 2015 he still earned 318 CP and placed a respectable 69th place in the USA & Canada.

Raphael Bagara

zvvr0rhRaphael started playing VGC in 2014, but didn’t get serious about it until 2015. Out of the blue Rapha made a name for himself by making it to the finals of US Nationals and qualifying for day 2 of Worlds.

Wesley Warthe-Anderson

Metagross-MegaWesley started playing in the 2015 season in January. Unsatisfied with playing singles on Battle Spot Wesley sought out official competition which led him straight to VGC with Hats founders Mark and Max. While experience isn’t Wesley’s forte he managed to make top four at Washington Regionals 2015.

Hayden McTavish

Hayden won Worlds in Seniors in 2013. Ever since then he’s been chasing the dream again in the masters division.

Justin Burnszvvr0rh

Justin threw his hat into the ring at the start of the 2015 season. Since then, he has made top cut at 7 out of 12 attended Regionals and qualified for day 1 of the World Championships in 2015 and 2016.

Demitrios KagurasCharizard-Mega_Y

Demitri started playing VGC in Spring of 2014, where he attended his first Regional in Seattle as a Senior. With a strong performance there, he decided to really dedicate time to VGC. 2015, his first year in the Masters Division, ended up being his breakout season where he finished only a few CP away from top 8 in the US and Canada and narrowly missed a day two invite to the World Championships. In 2016, he managed to qualify for worlds again and made day two by playing through day one.

Kelvin started playing in VGC in 2014 at a Premier Challenge and has been hooked since. Despite being new, he has had a respectable Top 16 finish at Oregon and won the Vancouver MSS in a tough field.

Yuanhao Li

TogekissA local BC player, Hao has been part of our group for a while now. Perhaps feeling left out, he wished to join the blog as well. After making it through day 1 worlds and going 4-3 day 2 we couldn’t deny him a spot.

Carson Confer

437BronzongCarson is a relatively new player that just moved up into the Masters Division. He started after seeing Sejun’s Pachirisu win Worlds and came into a bit of prominence after winning Kansas Regionals in 2015 with Togekiss. He also placed decently at Nationals, making Day 2 in both 2015 and 2016. Carson had a breakout performance at Worlds 2016, where he surprised everyone and won it all. In his first year as a master, Carson made top cut of the 2017 Collinsville regional.
